After all these years of suffering in silence, I finally went to find a therapist.
I was referred to an office about a half hour from home. There is a closer one (that’s where I did the intake), but…
“For one, you wanna go somewhere that has a psychiatrist right there. Here, they’d have to call one in. If you had to have meds, it would be a hassle. Plus, the doctor [at the other office] believes in holistic medicine…”
Hooray for someone finally listening to me!
Rant on healthcare in my home area to come another day. For now, I’ll enjoy the rare feeling of hope.
